NYAS highlights PopHR on their website

Today, The New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) featured an interview with former Surveillance Lab postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Arash Shaban-Nejad in the News section of their website. The paper titled: "PopHR: a knowledge-based platform to support integration, analysis and visualization of population health data" was published in the January 2017 issue of their journal, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences in a special issue titled: Data Science, Learning and Applications to Biomedical Health Sciences. The paper won first prize in the Impact on Field Category in the Awards for Outstanding Research Articles in Biosurveillance issued by the International Society for Disease Surveillance (ISDS). In the Annals news article released today Dr. Shaban-Nejad discusses the Population Health Record (PopHR) and its advantages over other systems. The Population Health Record (PopHR) is an informatics platform that uses existing epidemiological and public health knowledge to integrate multiple clinical and administrative data sources to provide a coherent view of the health of populations. It was designed by Dr. David Buckeridge and his team at the Surveillance Lab at McGill University. Read the article here!
